I am back with corporate dressing etiquettes as I promised. So here are some Do’s and Don’ts about how you should dress while in office

First and foremost, keep in mind that it is your office not college or any fun time place. Keep your flashy clothes and jewellery for the weekends even if you are newly married girl!!!!

In some cultures it is essential to wear some jewellery especially for the newly weds ones. Just stick to basic requirements that you can’t avoid as in Punjabis it is mandatory to wear “chuda” and in some families a gold bangle or a “mangal sutra” too. If you can’t avoid them, just wear them but make sure you don’t put on flashy clothes and make up. Infact, “chuda” looks really cute when worn with simple dresses. Try it out!!!!

Now, some basic dressing rules

Formals for girls include the following

• Trousers and Shirts
• Cotton Salwar kameez, preferably “chooridar” Short knee-length or long formal skirts with formal shirts
• Formal jacket for winters especially goes well with trousers and skirts
• Saree in pastle colours, without flashy designs and pinned up properly
• Wear small studs for earrings or very small hanging ones
• No bangles, no danglers, no “jhumkey”!!!!!
• For shoes, go for closed ones preferably. However, you can go for simple flats also.
• No hair clips!!!!
• Keep your hair short. If long, make sure you either tie them properly or maintain the hair cut it you like to keep them open.
• For make up, wear nude make up. Nude make up comprise of peaches and light pinks.
• No eye shadow for the day. It looks horrible!!!!
• Put kajal if you like to.
• Keep your make up to minimum.
• For shirts, no fluorescent colours. Prefer pastle colours. If you like wearing dark colours, match them with light trousers and make sure they are not shining like a band uniform!!!!
• Avoid wearing sleeveless unless you carry them off really well!!!!!!

It’s not as difficult as it sounds to be girls!!!!!

The basic idea behind the dressing rules is that it should not hamper your work and others too…

The other thing is it should make an impact on others. Everything counts when you are into professional life. Right from your attitude, knowledge to how you present yourself.

Your workplace might not have any strict dressing codes. However, following some of your own will definitely help you in climbing that corporate ladder. It will show your seriousness for work and life as a whole.

Now some rules for the guys too…

• You can’t think of anything but a shirt and trousers.
• Stay away from bright colours.
• Make sure you match your socks with your pant!!! They should be of same colour
• For ties, they should either be of the colour of your trousers or shirt. Atleast the shade should be matching and if you wanna wear some contrast colour, be sure it is not too eye catching.
• Be simple and formal.
• Pinks and mauves are not a NO NO for you. However, be careful when you chose these colours for yourself. They should suit you. You should be able to carry these colours well and let it be pastle colours.

Now some common rules for all

• Make sure your clothes are clean and ironed and shoes must be clean and shining!!!!
• Put a deo on!!!! Even if you bathe everyday and even if your office is fully A.C.
• If you like wearing a perfume, never go for the cheap ones and don’t be too generous while applying the perfume
• Try to stick on to similar fragrances.
• Put the perfume on points like wrists, inside of your elbow, under your ears and side of neck. The idea is that at these points, the blood flow is higher and your perfume will stay for long.
• Wear a simple watch it adds on to the effect.
• Guys shave everyday. And girls.. stick to your weekend parlour visits. You may not want to go for those expensive beauty treatments, but make sure you look clean and happy!!!!

Many offices have Fridays as casual wear days. So some tips on the same

• Friday dressing doesn’t mean you can turn up in your shorts or payjamas!!!!
• Wear a denim with a t-shirt which is preferably collared one. If not, it must not contain any quote on it.
• For girls, we know you have the sexiest clothes in town!!! But keep them for your weekends.. Weekends are not far away!!!!!
• Be casual yet formal enough so that you can attend any short notice meeting with a client or the manager.

Clothes matter but without attitude they won’t matter!!!! So wear your attitude and let your clothes compliment you!!!!!!

I don’t have much to say… just a thought to share…

Today in the office washroom I saw a girl… looking obssessively in the mirror… She looked at herself from almost every angle possible.. And God!!! What an attitude she had… it was overflowing from her eyes!!!!

He he he he.. I am not gossiping here.. just it made me think… how self obbsessed and may be self conscious we are about our looks… some people are too much that they forget what it takes to be a good human being…

Hmmmm… sounding like a granny advice????? Nope… I am no granny to advice you… just a viewpoint that I want to put here… the world around us has become so obssessed with looks and physique.. that we tend to forget what is more important… even people who never used to care about their looks are now so conscious that they forget how to enjoy their lives… I have seen this happeniing!!!!!

You go out with a girl and she would cry over every calorie she takes… not that I don’t care what I eat!! I do take care that I eat as healthy as I can.. but once I am enjoying.. chilling out with friends… Fun is all I care about….

Few weeks ago I read an interview with Kangna Ranaut… she said that you should be beautiful from inside and enjoy life.. as long as u r happy from inside a kg here and there doesn’t matter… how true… right????

Its not bad to be conscious about how u look and how u carry urself… after a certain point of time it gets important too…

However, we should know how much is required at what point of time….

This reminds me of one more thing… Since the day I have started going to office I have been noticing many people, especially girls not following corporate professional dressing…

May be they were never taught about it… may be I can share some important points with my friends which I learnt from my trainer in college…

I am writing this post after a long long time… I know… I am trying to be disciplined u know …

I remember my new year resolution and I guess I should start working on it…

Anyways… This time I am gonna start with a serious note…This morning I was going through the newspaper and came across an article which mentioned todays youngsters as -spendthrift, credit card addicted and a no-saving generation…

I know some people from our generation are not serious about their lives and future… but I don’t like generalizing this for all of them!!!!! I know many people who are quiet serious about themselves, their lives, their families and their responsibilities too… We might have a different way of showing our care and concern.. but we DO are sensitive!!!!

I have seen increasing bend of our generation towards spirituality.. I have seen people around me thinking to how to save money… I have seen people around me how to help their dad to pay off the loans he took for their studies!!!! Isn’t it something great guys????

We enjoy our lives… but at the same time we are connected to our roots too… I agree that BPO culture has given youngsters an easy way to earn but this doesn’t mean that BPOs are bad.. neither are these young people.. they lack direction… In some cases may be their families have not been able to guide them properly… but even then.. I would say that we can empathise with them.. I have seen a BPO girl working hard, studying and sending money to her family too!!!!!

May be the parents need to understand the need of the hour and start training their child to be independent and responsible a bit earlier than they think it is necessary…

Whatever be the reason.. I totally disagree with the generalization that people use for our generation.. there were exceptions in the older generations too…. and there are some in our generation too…

All said and done.. I think we need to be a bit more expressive and sensitive to the society…. Only then the society will accept us as a responsible generation….

Ya I am back!!! I was busy with my assignments and all.. ummm.. actually it is an excuse

I wud nt have been writing this post had it been my little brother scolding me .. little is a little word for my little brother.. lol!!!!

Yaaa.. he ias one of the most caring brothers in this world.. he cares for me.. is protective about me. without being possessive.. great combination!!! rt??? yup..

I wish I cud get a BF like him!!!! He is expert at making U feel special.. making u smile wen u r disgusted with life.. he makes me roll on my bed with laughter, sometimes even wen I am in one of my those worst moods!!!!

I am proud of him.. and I wish him luck throughout.. and I pray to God to give him strength and well-being.. which can help him be successful..

He is one of those ambitious people.. who do not depend upon others for there success.. I am a proud sis!!!!!

how u doing?

am dong gud.. though thinking since evening… i was feeling very strongly about mumbai.. (i still do).. however.. i have a doubt now.. may be u can clear..

while i was coming back from the college today… a car stopped near me when i turned for the road to my PG.. The person driving the car might be around 28-29 yrs… he called me 2-3 times and wen i looked into the car.. he asked me for an address which was supposed to be in my locality but i didnt know abt it.. then he asked me where the offices are? i told him they are just here.. and then he said if u going that side? can u guide me? i was like wat!!!! i said no sorry.. and i moved.. a moment later he again stopped his car near me.. and said.. listen,, i looked back,, he said actually i wanted to talk to u only.. i said ya tell me.. he said can we talk at some other place!!!!!!!!!! i gave him “R U NUTS!!!!!” looks and i moved on.. but inside.. i was scared.. it was a busy road.. almost towards a jam.. so he had to move on…

on my way back.. i was thinking.. wat did he think he was doing? wat did he think he cud do???  he wud have asked me and i wud have sit in his car? just coz he has got a car he can woo any girl???? wanted to slap these @#!%@$@# wanted to say him #%#$ OFF!!!!!

And we say we have to fight terrorism… no place is safe? terrorist or no terrorist…

I hope you all doing fine with your lives… hmmmm… we have to.. right? even if we are struck by a terrorsit attack a few days ago.. even if we are in shock…

I was reading newspaper today and there was a piece in editorial section of TOI.. it talked about life of the people of the city just after the terrorist attack. The author had went to jaipur a day after the bomb blasts occurred there… there he felt guilty of roaming around in the city as he thought the people were still under grief.. but then a rickshaw wala brought him to reality.. wat if the city was struck by a mishap? the life has to go on.. wat wud happen if we do not go and carry on our daily activities.. they will never be able to come out of it.. strange but true.. and very practical.. right? RIGHT!!!

now.. here there is a city who is trying to come terms with the loss and there are RESPONSIBLE POLITICIANS!!!

one is sayin “bade bade shehron me aisi ek adh ghatnayein hoti rehti hain” disgusting!!! thats wat i thought when I read this statement of Mr Patil.. it was not much before the CM went on to tour the taj!!! with whom? RGV and his son!!! is it a joke guys???? as if it was not enuf.. Mr Naqvi is not happy if we are trying to pray for the departed souls!!! he has a problem with the ladies wearing make-up!!! ask him what these irresponsible lot of politician that WE selected is doing without make-up????

have they even once thought of doing something? have they even felt bad for the citizens??? well!!! i dont think so!!!!

during all this fiasco… everybody was asking WHERE IS RAJ THACKREY!!! WHY IS HE SILENT!!! i got the answer to this too!!! Mrs Farah Khan Ali (an eminent personality of Mumbai, she is DJ Aqeel,s wife.. as i remember.. ) wrote today in TOI.. raj thakcrey and her wife were sending across SMSs to friends and others.. that people who dies in the attacks were marathis and MNS workers are giving blood!!!! DISGUSTING!!!!!!!

THIS IS REALLY ENUF!!!!!!!!! it is really time we wake up.. and open our eyes.. all these so called public servants should stop this nautanki  and leave us alone.. they have got no feelings… no sense of responsibility.. they were humans who died!!!! if raj thackrey realises.. and if he is so much interested in this community thing.. tell him.. the people who were ready to give up their lives to save others had no religion!!!! and if at all they had.. most of them mus have been north indians… why didnt raj thackrey cam out then and asked the north indians in the NSG to leave? why didnt he sent across his MNS workers to fight for his DEAR MARATHIS????

what are these people trying to do??? fool us?

there was a morning show running on FM today.. thr RJ was doing an admirable job… she was asking if these politicians are bewakuf dost (stupid friends) or chalaak dushman (cunning enemy)… it made me think… i really didnt have an answer… DO U HAVE?????

THINK ABOUT IT GUYS!!!!! THE COUNTRY IS GOING OUT OF OUR HANDS… THESE SELFISH PEOPLE WILL DESTROY EVERYTHING… WAKE UP… !!!!!!!!!!

or has it ever happened that u met a person for the first time and u felt as if u were always friends???  as id he or she is an old friend whom u r meeting after a few yrs???

hmmm.. it has happened with me!!!!
